President Bola Tinubu has formally congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his successful re-election as the governor of Osun State, describing the electoral outcome as a true reflection of the people’s will.
In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the president noted that he reached out to Governor Adeleke earlier in the day to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State, stating, “His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him.”
Tinubu further emphasized that “The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land.”
The president commended the “courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election,” noting that their “participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture.”
While wishing Adeleke “great success” over his next four years, he also urged him to “unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election.”
Governor Adeleke, contesting under the Accord Party, secured his second term by defeating his closest opponent, Bayo Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the August 15, 2026, gubernatorial contest. Adeleke polled a total of 511,067 votes, outstripping Oyebamiji’s 444,815 votes, while Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished third with 17,180 votes.
