Prominent Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore has voiced sharp criticism against popular Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, in the wake of his recent meeting with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.

Davido, accompanied by his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, traveled to Wike’s official residence in Abuja on Thursday.

A brief 16-second video circulating across social media platforms captured the singer engaging in light banter with Wike concerning the recent political outcome of the Osun State governorship race.

Expressing his disapproval, Sowore labeled the key figures as political opportunists, questioning why the musician appeared to be showing deference to Wike despite reports of violence and fatalities experienced during the election period in Osun.

Taking to his official X account to share his thoughts, Sowore stated: “Nigerian political hustlers will deceive the public, and the gullible will swallow the deception whole.

“Here is the loud and lousy @davido genuflecting before Nyesom Wike @GovWike, barely a week after their ‘agreement is agreement’ election politics in Osun, a contest marred by deadly violence and the loss of scores of lives.

“Behind all the public grandstanding, insults, and manufactured outrage, these political actors know exactly where their interests converge.

“Dissemblers. Gerrymanderers. Carpetbaggers. Political hustlers. Lying machines. When their interests are at stake, the masks come off.”
