An unexpected twist unfolded on Wednesday during a public march held to back President Bola Tinubu’s upcoming re-election bid in Zamfara State, as attendees loudly shouted praises for Atiku Abubakar instead of the incumbent leader.
Digital footage emerging from the gathering recorded the participants voicing chants of “Sai Atiku” rather than directing support toward the President.
The endorsement procession took place within Gusau, the regional capital, functioning as a gesture of gratitude to Tinubu for naming former executive governor Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar to head the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 polls.
The mobilization effort was put together by the A.A. Yari Political Organisation alongside partners including the Shehu Movement Organisation and the Yari 774 Initiative for Asiwaju 2027.
According to the event coordinators, placing Yari in this leadership position will successfully guide the political party toward its intended goals.
During his address to the assembled participants, Zamfara State APC Chairman Alhaji Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji expressed strong assurance that local voters will deliver overwhelming ballot numbers for Tinubu come 2027.
The development follows President Tinubu’s recent formation of his campaign administrative structure for the upcoming general elections, which included designating Yari as the primary Director-General.
