2027: Peter Obi Reveals Plan For Dual Result Transmission

The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress for the 2027 election, Peter Obi, has announced that his team will deploy an independent system to transmit polling unit results directly to its situation room during the upcoming polls.

Disclosing the strategy during an exclusive interview on Arise TV on Thursday, Obi explained that the setup would allow his campaign team to receive and track election figures in real time as votes are counted at polling locations.

The former Anambra State governor noted that the dual arrangement would run concurrently with the official transmission protocols of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Outlining the operational necessity of the move, Obi stated, “We must make sure that at every polling unit, the votes are counted, the votes are recorded properly, the votes are transmitted properly.”

Detailing the planned system, he added, “And we will have even a dual transmission so that as it’s going to the proper designated INEC portal, it’s also being transmitted where the people can see it.”

Addressing questions on whether establishing alternative verification channels amounted to operating a parallel election portal, Obi clarified that the initiative was purely designed for monitoring and transparency.

Emphasizing the objective, he noted, “All we are saying is that this time around, we will make sure that in every polling unit, we must have a system that transmits to our own situation room the correct results.”

Welcoming independent observation by civic bodies, he stated, “And I’m sure there are so many other agencies that intend to do the same thing. So we’re not going to have a situation where somebody pronounces something that didn’t emanate from the polling unit. Our task is to make sure that the right things are done.”

The NDC candidate asserted that transparent electoral outcomes are fully achievable in Nigeria, citing successful implementations in Ghana and other democratic nations.

Concluding his remarks, Obi characterized the 2027 general elections as an overarching movement by the Nigerian electorate to secure good governance rather than a routine contest between political parties.
