Izedonmwen, in his Independence Day message, congratulated Nigerians on the anniversary, describing it as an opportunity to reflect on the country’s journey since independence, and to celebrate its resilience and collective commitment to national unity, peace and development.

He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and patriotic despite the prevailing economic and social challenges, stressing that the nation’s progress depends on the collective determination of its citizens and the commitment of leaders to good governance.

Izedonmwen used the opportunity to call on political parties, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the 2027 general elections.

The former governorship candidate warned against political violence, intimidation, hate speech and other actions capable of threatening national security and undermining the democratic process.

In his words, “Elections should be a platform for citizens to freely express their political choices and determine the direction of governance, rather than a source of division and hostility”.

Izedonmwen also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other relevant institutions to uphold professionalism, impartiality and transparency in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He maintained that the credibility of the electoral process is essential to strengthening public confidence in democracy and ensuring political stability.

On national development, Izedonmwen called for genuine efforts towards economic diversification, rural-rivatilization, industrialisation, job creation and investment in agriculture and other productive sectors. Stating that his “RAIISE Agenda” remains an exemplary and practical model to develop Nigeria and the federating units.

He said Nigeria’s vast human and natural resources could be harnessed to improve the living conditions of citizens through strategic planning, visionary leadership and effective implementation of development policies.

He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful Independence Day celebration and called for greater commitment to building a united, prosperous and democratic country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
