President Bola Tinubu on Friday submitted six nominees for executive director positions at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to the Senate for formal confirmation.
The list submitted to the upper legislative chamber comprises three returning executive directors reappointed for a second term and three fresh nominees, all set to serve five-year tenures upon parliamentary approval.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the executive action in an official statement released on Friday.
According to an executive communication sent to the Senate leadership dated October 30, 2026, the three renominated officials are Abiodun Adeniji (Finance and Accounts), Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha (Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure), and Dr. Mustapha Lamorde (Health, Safety, Environment and Community).
The three new appointees presented for legislative confirmation include Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, nominated as Executive Director for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, designated as Executive Director for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, as Executive Director for Corporate Services and Administration.
“The President urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s oversight capacity,” the presidential statement read.
Additionally, President Tinubu approved the appointment of Mrs. Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser, subject to fulfilling statutory procedures stipulated under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
The fresh executive nominations follow the earlier appointment of Engr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the Chief Executive Officer of the regulatory agency in April.
