The Federal Government of Nigeria has established an official verification process for citizens to check whether they have been selected to receive the ₦50,000 monthly cash relief package targeted at vulnerable households.
Operating under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), the intervention provides financial relief to low-income households struggling with rising costs of living.
Government authorities emphasized that beneficiaries are pre-selected strictly from verified national identity records and the National Social Register, clarifying that citizens do not need to fill out online forms or pay agents to access the funds.
Below is the complete step-by-step guide on how to verify your selection status across all approved payment platforms.
Step 1: Identify your designated payment provider
The Federal Government has authorized five digital financial service providers to handle verification and fund disbursements under the NERSI scheme:
1. ALAT by Wema Bank
2. MoMo PSB
3. NairaGram
4. OPay
5. Moniepoint
Step 2: Dial your payment provider’s USSD shortcode
Using the primary mobile phone number linked to your National Identification Number (NIN) and banking details, dial the shortcode corresponding to your provider:
1. ALAT by Wema Bank: Dial *945*23#
2. MoMo PSB: Dial *671*0#
3. NairaGram: Dial *726*00#
4. OPay: Dial *955*20#
5. Moniepoint: Dial *5573*27#
Step 3: Navigate to the eligibility check menu
Upon dialing the code, follow the on-screen menu prompts and select the option designated for checking your eligibility under the NERSI intervention.
The system will process your query and display whether your phone number is listed among the selected recipients.
Step 4: Confirm acceptance if selected
If your account or phone number is shortlisted, follow the prompt instructions to confirm your selection.
Selected beneficiaries will also receive an official SMS notification confirming their status and asking them to grant consent to receive the ₦50,000 payout.
Be sure to verify that the SMS comes directly from your payment provider, as legitimate messages will only ask you to reply with simple text confirmations or dial the official shortcode.
Step 5: Receive and withdraw your ₦50,000 grant
Once you accept the grant, a digital mobile wallet will be automatically linked to your registered phone number and NIN.
The ₦50,000 relief credit will then be deposited straight into the wallet, accompanied by a transaction confirmation alert.
Beneficiaries can cash out their funds via Point of Sale (POS) agents, transfer the money to external bank accounts, or spend it directly through their provider’s mobile banking services.
What if your status shows you are not selected?
The Federal Government stated that disbursements are being rolled out in consecutive phases, meaning not all shortlisted candidates will be credited in the initial batch.
Not receiving an immediate SMS alert does not automatically mean permanent exclusion from subsequent phases of the intervention.
However, officials reiterated that the program remains strictly targeted, and there is no public application portal or third-party registration requirement.
