The absence of Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has delayed the ruling on a fresh bail application filed by Tigran Gambaryan, an executive of Binance Holdings Limited who is currently in detention.
The ruling, which was scheduled for Wednesday, could not proceed as Justice Nwite was attending a seminar at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja.
The court has now rescheduled the ruling for October 11.
On September 4, counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ekele Iheanacho, opposed the bail application made on Gambaryan’s behalf by his lawyer, Mark Mordi.

Iheanacho argued that the Binance executive was receiving the best possible medical care from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), and claimed that Gambaryan had once rejected medical treatment offered by the State House Clinic in Abuja.
Iheanacho presented a medical report from the State House Clinic, suggesting that Gambaryan’s health was not as severe as claimed, and that the defendant was dissatisfied with the medical care provided.
The EFCC lawyer urged the court to dismiss the new bail request, explaining that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, had requested Gambaryan’s medical records from the NCoS, which were provided on August 29, including reports from Nizamiye Hospital and other facilities.

According to Iheanacho, the reports indicate that Gambaryan has been receiving adequate medical attention and has been taken to several hospitals, including the State House Clinic.
He further stated that while the NCoS can arrange treatment at any hospital in Nigeria, medical procedures such as surgery cannot be forced without Gambaryan’s consent.
On the other hand, Mordi, Gambaryan’s lawyer, urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms or at least for six weeks, citing his client’s health concerns.
He argued that the medical reports showed Gambaryan required care that could not be adequately provided in Nigeria.
