Liam Payne, the former One Direction member, has tragically died at the age of 31 after a fall from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, as confirmed by local police.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at a hotel located on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighborhood. Police responded to a 911 call regarding an aggressive individual who appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, though they did not specify that the person was Payne.
Just weeks before his death, Payne attended a concert in Argentina by his former bandmate Niall Horan on October 2.

He had recently celebrated his 31st birthday in the UK and was born in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, as the youngest of three siblings.
Payne studied music technology at the City of Wolverhampton College.
He gained fame as part of the iconic British boyband One Direction, formed in 2010 after the members appeared on the UK version of “The X Factor.”
In a 2015 interview with Entertainment Weekly, he expressed his love for performing and songwriting, highlighting his pride in co-writing the song “What a Feeling.”

One Direction went on hiatus in 2015, and Payne released his debut solo album, “LP1,” in 2019. In May 2023, he announced plans for a new album and an upcoming tour, although he had to postpone the South American dates due to a kidney infection.
Open about his struggles with substance abuse, Payne shared that he had completed treatment and was six months sober by summer 2023. In March, he released the single “Teardrops.”
Payne is survived by his son, Bear, born in 2017, with former Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole. In a 2023 YouTube video, he expressed his deep love for Bear, describing him as “awesome” and incredibly bright.
