President Bola Tinubu has appointed Chief Sir Basil Ejidike, the Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Root Crops Research Institute, Umudike.

A letter of appointment, dated March 28, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, indicated that this appointment is a call to national service.
The letter also specified that the appointment became effective on March 26, 2025.

The letter has the caption, “Appointment as chairman governing Board National Root Crops Research Institute Umudike”.
It read, “I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved your appointment as Chairman, Governing Board, National Root Crops Research Institute, Umudike.
“Your appointment, which is a call to National service, is at the pleasure of Mr. President and shall take effect from March 26, 2025. 2 Please, accept my congratulations and best wishes on your appointment.”
Chief Sir Basil Ejidike expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for this latest honor bestowed upon him and the Anambra State APC.
He stated that this appointment is a significant addition to the presidential appointments allocated to Anambra State and the APC, highlighting the President’s recognition of the party’s members, leaders, and the people of the state.
Ejidike assured President Tinubu of the unwavering support of the people of Anambra State and the state chapter of the APC for his Renewed Hope Agenda.
