Shettima Takes Action On NAHCON Chairman, Board Members

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called a meeting with Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and the commission’s board members, scheduled for today at the Vice President’s Conference Room.

A letter of invitation signed by Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Office of the Vice President, indicates that the meeting’s purpose is to brief the Vice President on the preparations for the 2025 Hajj and to discuss any unresolved issues.

The invitation stated, “I have been directed to instruct you to attend a meeting with the Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima GCON on Tuesday 22nd April 2025 at the Vice President’s Conference Room at 1.30pm along with all other board members of the National Hajj Commission.”

“Please ensure that you notify the other board members accordingly and come along with a short brief on preparedness for the 2025 hajj operation and any outstanding issues in that regard.”

It is noted that there have been disagreements between the chairman and the non-executive board members regarding a lack of inclusion in certain decisions made by the chairman concerning the 2025 Hajj preparations.

This situation led to a petition being submitted to the Vice President, who subsequently cautioned the chairman against managing the commission’s affairs unilaterally.

However, the chairman has refuted the allegations made against him by the board members.
