Date FBI, Others Will Release Tinubu US Probe Reports Revealed

The investigation reports concerning the alleged drug-related case involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 1990s are expected to be released on Friday, May 2, as mandated by a US court.

The agencies required to disclose their investigation findings include the US Attorneys, Department of State, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

This release follows an order from the US District Court for the District of Columbia, which, in early April, directed these agencies, excluding the CIA, to jointly file a report on the status of any pending issues related to the release of documents by May 2, 2025.

Judge Beryl Howell issued the orders in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, stating that withholding the documents from public disclosure was “neither logical nor plausible,” according to Premium Times.

The lawsuit was filed by American citizen Aaron Greenspan in June 2023, alleging that the US agencies violated the FOIA by failing to release documents related to purported federal investigations into President Tinubu and Abiodun Agbele within the statutory timeframe.

Greenspan had submitted 12 FOIA requests to six US government agencies between 2022 and 2023, seeking criminal investigative records on four individuals “allegedly associated with the drug ring: Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lee Andrew Edwards, Mueez Abegboyega Akande, and Abiodun Agbele.”

The Presidency has maintained that the information being requested is not new and does not implicate the president.
