The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed former Edo State Governor, Lucky Igbinedion, as a member of its Board of Trustees (BoT).
This appointment was formalized in a letter dated Friday, May 9, 2025, and signed by Ahmed Makarfi, the Secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees.
According to the letter, Igbinedion’s nomination aligns with Section 32(1) (a-h) of the PDP Constitution, as amended in 2017, which outlines the criteria for BoT membership.

The appointment also adheres to Section 32(1)(g), stipulating the appointment of one nominee per state (or the FCT) who has significantly contributed to the party’s growth and is recommended by the State Caucus.
Igbinedion’s initial tenure on the BoT is set for three years, commencing on May 12, 2025, and concluding on May 11, 2028. The letter also noted that this term is renewable for an additional three years, as per Section 32(4) of the party’s constitution.
The PDP conveyed its confidence in Igbinedion’s ability to fulfill the trust placed in him by the party’s leadership, acknowledging his long-standing contributions to the party’s development and sustainability.
