Posters promoting Oyo State Governor Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for the 2027 presidency appeared in prominent locations across Kano on Thursday.
This comes after the Nigeria Youths Awareness Group Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde 2027) held a press briefing in Kano over the weekend, asserting that Makinde is the only candidate who can advance Nigeria, given the current political landscape for the 2027 presidential election.
The group urged all democratic patriots to rally behind him for the nomination, regardless of their political affiliations.

Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi, National Secretary of NYAG Makinde 2027, told journalists in Kano that various groups have united to form a common front for a “Seyi Makinde for President in 2027” movement. He declared, “We are a moving train, and there is no stopping us until we achieve our objective of a Seyi Makinde presidency.”
The posters, emblazoned with “To Move Nigeria Forward 2027” and a bold image of Governor Makinde, read: “His Excellency, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria,” credited to NYAG Makinde 2027.
A survey revealed the posters were visible at key locations, including Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) and its roundabout, the popular Wappa area roundabout (where the former Triumph newspaper was located), and the Dengi Flyover.
They were also strategically placed on road pavements at the renowned Kantin-Kwari Market, West Africa’s largest textile market, to ensure wide visibility.
Many onlookers in Kano shared their views on the posters. Alhaji Ibrahim Usman commented, “There is nothing wrong with placing Governor Makinde’s posters. If he intends to contest, he has the right to run for any elective position in the country.”
Alhaji Abba Muhammadu added, “Let Makinde declare his presidential intention; he would be a great leader because I have heard that he has performed excellently well.” Mr. John Ezekiel remarked, “We are waiting for those interested in contesting in 2027 to declare their intention. Then, it will be up to voters or Nigerians to decide who will lead them.”
Abdullahi further elaborated on the group’s strategy, stating, “The group has met and concluded that it will throw its full weight behind the Seyi Makinde 2027 presidential project by mobilising the entire North for him.”
He claimed to have consulted prominent politicians and personalities nationwide who have pledged their support, describing the “Seyi Makinde 2027 project” as a “massive movement that will catch on and spread like wildfire.”
Abdullahi assured that all necessary arrangements are complete, with posters, billboards, handbills, and other branded materials ready.
He projected that by next week, “Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Borno, Yobe, and Gombe will be awash with support for Seyi Makinde. Other states will follow subsequently. Our movement will take over Northern Nigeria for Seyi Makinde, after which Southern Nigeria will be visited.“
He concluded by praising Makinde’s achievements in Oyo State, calling him “a focused administrator, someone committed to improving lives. He is the kind of leader Nigeria needs now.”
