Speaking on Sunday, his eldest son, Emmanuel, disclosed that his father had made a wish, sternly warning them not to embalm his body after his death.

Emmanuel informed family members and kindred about this instruction, and after extensive discussion, including notifying Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, they all consented to fulfill his wish.

“There are a lot of consequential results if an elder said something and otherwise was done,” Emmanuel explained.

He added that the veteran musician’s funeral ceremony would be announced soon.

Born Michael Ifeanyichukwu Ejeagha in Enugu in 1930, the self-styled folklore custodian dedicated over sixty years to collecting proverbs and idioms, transforming them into guitar-driven narratives that preserved Igbo oral tradition.
