President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Mathew Adamu as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja.
Adamu, who previously worked in the Department of Veterinary Parasitology and Entomology at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, will serve for a period of three months, beginning Monday, August 11, 2025.

According to a statement from the Federal Ministry of Education, Adamu’s main task is to support the Governing Council in concluding the process for appointing a permanent vice-chancellor.
He is the second acting vice-chancellor appointed since Professor Aisha Maikudi’s removal, following the non-renewable six-month tenure of Professor Lar Patricia Manko.
