Tinubu Overhauls NTA Leadership, Appoints Rotimi Pedro As New DG

President Bola Tinubu has announced a major shake-up at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), replacing the management team with new leadership.

The appointments signal the Federal Government’s intention to modernize and reposition the state broadcaster in an increasingly competitive media market.

The new leadership team includes:

  • Rotimi Richard Pedro: Director-General
  • Karimah Bello: Executive Director of Marketing
  • Stella Din: Executive Director of News
  • Sophia Essahmed: Managing Director of NTA Enterprises Limited

Rotimi Richard Pedro, a media executive and consultant with nearly three decades of experience, has been appointed as the new Director-General.

Pedro, a trained lawyer with an MSc in Investment Management & Finance, founded Optima Sports Management International (OSMI) in 1995, which became one of Africa’s top sports content providers.

His career also includes leading roles at Bloomberg Television Africa and consultancy work for FIFA and UEFA.

His appointment is described as one of the most “significant leadership changes at NTA in recent years” and “signals the Federal Government’s intention to modernise the broadcaster and reposition it.”
