‘Nothing Will Stop Us, We’re Taking Over Wadata Plaza On Tuesday’ – New PDP Chairman Turaki Storms Police Headquarters In Abuja, Makes Vow

The newly elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has vowed that the new leadership “will go ahead with its inaugural National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, at the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Abuja,” despite internal wrangling and resistance from expelled party members.

Addressing journalists on Monday shortly after submitting a petition at the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) headquarters in Garki, Abuja, Turaki reaffirmed his commitment to “reclaiming the party’s headquarters and exercising the full authority of his office.”

He accused expelled National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu and some other party members of “engaging in acts of sabotage against the new leadership.”

According to Turaki, nothing will deter him and his colleagues from convening at Wadata Plaza tomorrow.

He declared: “Our offices are now open, we are going there. We will have the offices open, we will get in there and begin to perform the functions for which we were elected.”

The former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs emphasised that his team had “duly informed the police of their plans and received assurances of protection.”

Turaki said: “I have assured the Commissioner of Police of the FCT that while we will ensure there is no breach of peace on our part, we will go there prepared to defend ourselves and our integrity as Nigerians. The Nigerian Constitution has given us the right to defend our persons, our lives, and our properties. That we are prepared to do.”

He further vowed that his leadership “was ready to make any sacrifice necessary to defend the PDP and Nigeria’s democracy.”

He declared passionately: “Let me reiterate again, for the avoidance of doubt, to defend our party, to defend this nascent democracy, we are prepared to lay down our lives. We will go there to move into our headquarters, to conduct our official functions, and if anybody tries to prevent us, then we pray for them.”

When asked what time the meeting would commence, Turaki confirmed that the PDP National Executive Committee would convene by “10 a.m. on Tuesday.”

He stated confidently: “Our meeting is at 10 a.m. tomorrow. We shall be there unfailingly. I, as the National Chairman of PDP, will be leading from the front, not from the rear.”

Turaki added that the police “had assured him that adequate security arrangements would be in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order.”

He concluded: “We have the assurance that they will do everything it takes to ensure there is no breakdown of law and order. That is our expectation from them. We will be there hoping the police will make sure they give us all the ample protection we are entitled to under the law — and that assurance will protect us.”

The faction of the PDP led by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, under their factional National Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman, “had also announced that BoT and NEC meetings will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025.” These meetings “were scheduled to take place in the NEC Hall at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.”

Recall that Wike, Anyawu, Fayose and seven others “were expelled from the PDP last Saturday, same day Turaki won the party’s national chairmanship contest at the party’s National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.”
