Tinubu Replaces Abia’s Federal Character Commissioner Nominee

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a fresh nomination to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Victor Ikeji as the commissioner representing Abia State on the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

The request was formally conveyed in a letter read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during Thursday’s plenary session.

In the letter, President Tinubu explained that the nomination was made pursuant to Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

He specifically requested that the upper chamber consider and confirm the appointment of Victor Ikeji as commissioner of the Federal Character Commission.

Tinubu clarified that Ikeji is nominated to replace Obinna Oriaku, who had been nominated previously in a letter dated October 9th.

Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio subsequently referred the nomination to the Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Relations, directing the panel to report back within one week.
