The Lagos State Police Command has taken popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, better known as “Peller,” into custody after a viral livestream showed him driving recklessly before crashing his vehicle on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
In an official statement released on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, the authorities confirmed that the arrest was triggered by a video from Sunday, December 14, 2025.
The footage captured the 20-year-old in a state of visible distress behind the wheel, an act the police have classified as a criminal threat to public safety.

The police statement noted:“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained, for further investigation, Habeeb Hamzat, also known as ‘Peller’, subsequent to a viral video that surfaced online on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in which he was seen driving recklessly, leading to a dangerous road crash while the incident was being live-streamed.”
The Command further alleged that the content creator’s behavior was a threat to himself and the public:“His action constitutes a deliberate attempt to commit suicide and endangered the lives of other innocent road users.”
The case has now been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more thorough probe.

Police officials stated that the suspect would eventually be “charged before a court of competent jurisdiction in line with the law.”
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, used the incident to issue a stern warning to social media influencers, making it clear that the state would not permit the use of digital platforms to encourage hazardous behavior.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that:“Such lawlessness will not be tolerated, and the full weight of the law will be applied to any offender.”
