The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the detention of the driver involved in the tragic Lexus SUV crash that killed two individuals and injured world boxing champion Anthony Joshua.
The accident occurred on Monday morning near Danco, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, when the Lexus SUV, registered as KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck.
While Joshua survived the impact, the crash claimed the lives of his two companions: Ayodele Kelvin Olu (36), a dual Nigerian-British citizen, and Gami Sina (36), a British citizen.

The Command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, verified the arrest in a statement released on Thursday.
“The driver of the Lexus SUV in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case is currently in custody. Investigations are ongoing,” the statement read.
In a separate update, the governments of Lagos and Ogun states released a joint statement on Wednesday—signed by Kayode Akinmade (Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun) and Gbenga Omotosho (Lagos State Commissioner for Information)—confirming that the boxing star has been released from the hospital.
According to the statement, Joshua and his mother visited a funeral home in Lagos on Wednesday to honor his late friends before their bodies were repatriated.
“Anthony Joshua was discharged from Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, late on Wednesday after doctors confirmed that he was clinically fit to continue his recuperation from home,” the government confirmed.
Governors Dapo Abiodun and Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed their condolences to the bereaved families, describing the accident as “painful and deeply unfortunate.”
They also extended their gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his “fatherly support” and praised the medical team at Lagoon Hospital for their professionalism.
