Senator Ogoshi Onawo, the representative for Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The announcement came via a resignation letter dated January 10, 2026, which was delivered to the PDP chairman in Galadimawa Ward, located in the Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The lawmaker confirmed that his departure was effective immediately, stating:“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area, with effect from today, 10th January, 2026.”

Senator Onawo clarified that his exit was motivated by private factors rather than political friction, noting:“This decision has been taken after careful consideration and is purely for personal reasons.”
Throughout the letter, the Senator remained gracious, offering his thanks to the party’s hierarchy and its loyalists for the platform they provided him during his tenure.
He remarked:“I wish to sincerely thank the party leadership, members, and supporters for the opportunity and platform afforded me over the years to serve my people in various capacities. I remain deeply grateful for the trust, cooperation, and support I received throughout my time in the party. Please accept my appreciation and best wishes for the continued progress and success of the party.”
While Onawo has not yet officially declared which party he will join next, there is significant speculation linking him to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), particularly after he was seen attending one of their meetings in July 2025.
