Davido Breaks Silence With Photos After Grammy Award Loss [PHOTOS]

Celebrated Afrobeats icon Davido has expressed a message of faith and perseverance after his latest pursuit of a Grammy Award ended in defeat at the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Following the ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 1, 2026, the five-time nominee took to Instagram to share his perspective on the results.

Posting photos with his wife, Chioma, he initially wrote, “Oluwa Dey my side,” signaling his continued trust in God.

In a subsequent post, he revealed a private moment of doubt he shared with his wife after the loss.

“I said baby listen we lost again let’s not go ! she said ‘Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat’ we outside,” he shared, highlighting Chioma’s encouragement.

Chioma also publicly rallied behind her husband on her own social media page, affirming her support by writing, “You already know that you’re the perfect one, @davido.”

Davido’s nominated track, “With You” featuring Omah Lay, was a contender in the Best African Music Performance category.

However, the award was secured by South African singer Tyla for her song “Push 2 Start,” marking her second career win. Other heavyweights in the category included Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, and Eddy Kenzo.

Reflecting on the nominated song, Davido revealed to OkayAfrica that the track—which has now surpassed 100 million Spotify streams—almost didn’t make his fifth studio album, 5IVE. “Man, it’s so crazy because that song almost didn’t make the album. With You was not in anybody’s top five. And now look at it go. Every time I was performing it, my heart would just start beating like, what if I didn’t put this song?” he admitted.

He also recalled receiving the news of the nomination unexpectedly while in Dubai, stating, “I was in the car, actually, checking a car, and then my phone rang. They were like, ‘Oh yeah, another nomination.’ I was like, wow. Thank God.”

Despite the lack of Nigerian wins at this year’s ceremony, Davido is shifting his focus toward the future.

He is currently preparing for new music releases and a tour schedule that includes a solo Nigerian representation at Coachella 2026, where he is slated to perform on April 11 and 18 in California.
