A Russian content creator has ignited a firestorm of fury across Africa after being exposed as a “predator” who used high-tech surveillance gear to secretly film sexual encounters with local women.
Vyacheslav Trahov, who goes by the online handle “Yaytseslav,” stands accused of utilizing Meta smart glasses—devices that look exactly like standard sunglasses—to record women in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Accra without their knowledge.
These videos, which reportedly progress from casual “street approaches” in malls to hotel rooms in a matter of hours, have sparked a massive outcry regarding digital privacy, Western privilege, and the predatory exploitation of women.

Investigations by local vloggers have uncovered a sophisticated monetization scheme.
While Trahov used TikTok and YouTube to share “teasing” clips to build a following, the full, non-consensual sexual recordings were allegedly stored on a private Telegram channel.
Access to this library of “trophy” videos, featuring hundreds of African women, reportedly cost subscribers $5 (approx. Ksh650 / GH₵ 75) per month.
The backlash across social media has been swift and severe.

One Ghanaian user highlighted the power imbalance, posting, “He preyed on us because he’s an ‘obroni’ (white person) and we’re struggling. This isn’t travel content; it’s predatory behavior dressed up as vlogging.”
On Friday, February 13, 2026, Trahov reportedly addressed the scandal on his Telegram channel.
He attempted to dismiss the allegations by claiming the footage was “almost a year old” and insisted that “the women were fully aware of the filming.”
However, viewers who have analyzed the “hidden camera” angles have fiercely contested these claims.
The condemnation has been echoed by prominent voices. In Kenya, respected journalist Ferdinard Omondi labeled the acts as “sexual exploitation.”
Omondi clarified the legal and moral boundary, stating, “The sex may have been consensual, but the recording and distribution were not. That is a crime.”
Meanwhile, in Ghana, the Cyber Security Authority has reportedly launched an investigation.
If found guilty of violating privacy and distribution laws, Trahov could face a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
By Saturday, February 14, the creator had attempted to erase his digital presence by making his TikTok private and deleting numerous videos. Despite these efforts, images of the “Russian predator” continue to circulate online.
Activists across the continent are now issuing warnings to women to “watch out for foreigners who won’t take their sunglasses off indoors.”
