Solomon Akiyesi, a seasoned figure in Nollywood known for both acting and production, has passed away.
Reports indicate that he died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, verified the news on Monday.
He confirmed that the actor’s death occurred in Abuja and noted that his body is currently at a mortuary as the guild waits for more information from his relatives.
“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. He slept and did not wake up. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident happened,” Yakubu stated.
Akiyesi, who hailed from Akoko-Edo in Edo State, was a veteran of the screen who entered the Nigerian movie scene during the late 1990s.
Throughout a career that lasted more than 20 years, he appeared in over 100 films and was highly regarded as a “versatile character actor.”
He was well known for his performances in movies such as “Marry Who You Love,” “Heart of a Saint,” “Deadly Affair,” and “Pretty Liars.”
