The Ambrose Alli University (AAU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Ekpoma has embarked on an indefinite strike due to unpaid allowances and the failure to implement the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement.
According to the union, the industrial action commenced on Tuesday, August 25, after a 14-day ultimatum given to the university management and the Edo State Government elapsed without a resolution.
The union’s demands center around the full adoption of the 2025 agreement at the institution alongside the clearing of arrears owed since January 2026, which has now brought all lectures, exams, and student project supervisions to a halt.
This local strike follows authorization from the ASUU National Executive Council for university branches to push for the implementation of the 2025 agreement, leaving academic activities heavily disrupted as staff insist on their demands being met.
