Prominent financial technology company OPay has officially dismissed a viral notice claiming the platform plans to suspend operations and begin an indefinite break starting September 1, 2026.

The swift rebuttal followed a widely shared document titled “Official Note” that urged customers to withdraw their funds immediately to avoid disruption, sparking widespread panic across social channels.

Reacting to the development on Monday, OPay’s Head of Corporate Communications, Folayemi Joshua, labeled the circulating message entirely false and urged users to ignore the misleading claims.

Joshua emphasized that the business continues to run normally without any service interruptions, noting that malicious actors manufactured the report solely to cause unnecessary anxiety while assuring the public that all user funds remain secure and accessible.

Highlighting the fraudulent nature of the viral document, company representatives pointed out obvious design flaws, including an outdated company logo, an incorrect lowercase spelling of the brand name as “Opay,” and an unauthorized layout template.

Management concluded by reiterating its dedication to delivering uninterrupted financial solutions nationwide, advising customers to check only official communication channels for verified updates.
