Why I Don’t Regret Voting APC In 2015 – Aisha Yesufu

Human rights activist and Nigerian Democratic Congress chieftain, Aisha Yesufu, has maintained that she stands by her choice in the 2015 presidential election, revealing that her ballot was cast for the All Progressives Congress strictly because of Vice Presidential candidate Yemi Osinbajo.

Speaking during a recent guest appearance on the Kaa Truth podcast, the vocal political commentator clarified that her support was never directed at former President Muhammadu Buhari, but rather at his running mate.

She explained that her electoral decision in 2015 was guided by widespread expectations that Buhari would delegate major administrative duties, particularly national economic management, directly to Osinbajo’s office.

Confirming her position on the historic election, she stated, “I don’t regret voting for Buhari. This is the thing, if I’m to regret voting for Buhari, it will be like this disaster we have now, we should allow it because the next person will be worse.”

Addressing the political climate of that period, she added, “It was Jonathan that made Buhari to be acceptable by the people. We had someone who had done so badly and by 2015, we voted for APC.”

Reiterating her primary reason for supporting the opposition ticket at the time, Yesufu stressed, “I didn’t vote for that ticket for Buhari but because of Pastor Yemi Osibanjo.”

Drawings historical comparisons to justify her expectation of leadership delegation, she concluded, “If you ask me why, I will say because Buhari is known to delegate his duties. When he was a military head of state, it was Tunde Idiagbon that was in charge. They said Osibanjo was going to be in charge of the economy.”
