The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has stated the single condition that would make him immediately abandon his 2027 political campaign.
Speaking during a visit to the United States, Obi dismissed allegations claiming that his trip to America was aimed at soliciting financial contributions from Nigerians living abroad.
The former Anambra State governor vowed to completely withdraw from the 2027 presidential race if anyone can present verifiable proof that he accepted money from any diaspora supporter during his visit.
Addresssing the allegations, Obi clarified that he is personally funding his international travels and logistics, maintaining that his efforts are directed toward advancing good governance in Nigeria.
He stated, “People are saying that on my current trip to America, I have gone there to collect money from Nigerians in the diaspora.
“If anyone can show me one person in America who gave me even one dollar, I will end my 2027 campaign.
“I am using my own resources and paying all my bills, I am running around the world, trying to do the right thing.”
