The distribution of high-end Toyota Land Cruiser Prado sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to selected youth leaders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sparked widespread public criticism and debate across the country.
The controversy erupted following a viral video clip published on social media by the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel.
The video footage showcased a fleet of seven brand-new 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs handed over to designated youth executives to enhance grassroots voter mobilization and field logistics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Following the presentation, Israel publicly expressed gratitude to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her sustained logistics backing and empowerment of the ruling party’s youth wing.
The First Lady subsequently confirmed that she donated the vehicles directly to the APC National Youth Wing to assist their political mobilization and campaign outreach efforts across the country.
Although the total procurement cost and financing sources for the vehicles were not officially disclosed, the gesture triggered intense public backlash from citizens who criticized the lavish political expenditure against the backdrop of prevailing socio-economic challenges, rising cost of living, and everyday financial pressures faced by Nigerian households.
