Popular Actor In Netflix’s ‘Elite’ Series, Julian Ortega Dies At 41

Spanish actor Julian Ortega, known for his role in the popular Netflix series “Elite,” has died at the age of 41, as announced by Spain’s actors and actresses union.

In a statement on Monday, the union extended their deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Ortega, the son of Spanish actress Gloria Muñoz, was born in Madrid in 1983 and trained at a drama school in the city. His career spanned over two decades, including roles in Spanish films like “El Otro Barrio” (2000) and “La raíz del mal” (2008).

He gained international recognition through his role in Netflix’s “Elite,” where he played a restaurant manager in the high school drama set among wealthy students.

His recent work included appearances in the drama series “The Countryside” (originally “El Pueblo”) and “4 estrellas.” His “Countryside” co-star Ruth Diaz paid tribute to him on Instagram, remembering him as a kind and generous colleague.

Ortega also worked in theater, notably writing and starring in the 2021 play “Ira” alongside his mother, according to the Spanish Theatre in Madrid.

The cause of his death has not yet been officially disclosed.
