FG Announces Locations For Free CNG Conversion For Vehicles

The Federal Government has announced six locations in Lagos State where vehicle owners can receive a free conversion to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

This initiative is part of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).

According to Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the conversions will start on Friday, September 13, from 3 pm to 6 pm at six designated sites. The service will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Owners will then be able to refuel at NIPCO stations for ₦230 per SCM of CNG, offering substantial savings compared to petrol.

Osiyemi encouraged Lagos residents to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Here is a list of the approved CNG conversion centers in Lagos, including their addresses:

On Friday, September 13, CNG conversions will be available in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Ibadan, Oyo State, from 3 PM to 6 PM.

The following day, Saturday, September 14, similar conversion sessions will take place in Abuja and Kaduna between 3 PM and 6 PM.

The first 50 vehicles at each designated CNG conversion center in these cities that pass inspection will receive free CNG conversion kits.

This initiative is part of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023.

The PCNGI aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s transportation sector by introducing over 11,500 CNG-enabled vehicles and providing 55,000 conversion kits for petrol vehicles.
