The suit, filed on September 12 by PDP chieftain Honesty Aginbatse, claims there are discrepancies in the birth dates on the nomination forms Okpebholo submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Senator Okpebholo is scheduled to appear before Magistrate Abubakar Mukhtar on September 20.

Magistrate Mukhtar has adjourned the case until September 20.

Honesty Aginbatse alleged that Senator Okpebholo’s 2023 Senate nomination form listed his birth date as March 29, 1970.

However, according to Aginbatse, Okpebholo’s 2024 governorship nomination forms state August 29, 1970, on the age declaration form and August 29, 1972, on his West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate.

Additionally, Aginbatse claimed that Okpebholo’s INEC voter card lists his date of birth as August 1, 1977.

Aginbatse pointed out that under Section 182.1(d) of the Nigerian Constitution, a conviction for offenses involving dishonesty or fraud disqualifies an individual from running for governor, raising concerns about Okpebholo’s eligibility if he is convicted.
