The National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sultan Bello, has formally resigned his membership from the political party with immediate effect, citing dissatisfaction over his exclusion from the newly unveiled Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council.
Bello conveyed his official decision in a resignation letter dated September 24, 2026, addressed to the Party Chairman of Ja’oji Gyadi Gyadi Arewa Ward in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.
Explaining his departure, Bello noted in the letter that the decision came after a period of deliberate consultation, evaluation, and personal assessment regarding his political journey.
“After extensive consultations, careful consideration, and deep personal reflection, I write to formally tender my resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with immediate effect,” the letter stated.
“This decision has not been taken lightly. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served and contributed to the growth and activities of the party during my time as a member. I sincerely appreciate the relationships, experiences, and lessons gained throughout my journey within the ADC,” he explained.
Elaborating further on the underlying reason for his abrupt exit, Bello took to his social media handle to register his frustration over being omitted from the campaign council membership despite his efforts for the party.
“Lean team apparently means lean on the people who worked, then leave them off the list. Anyway, resignation submitted. No hard feelings… just hard lessons,” he stated in a post accompanied by the words, “I QUIT.”
In his exit statement, the former youth leader specifically acknowledged former Rivers State Governor and Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, expressing gratitude for his mentorship and leadership.
“I would like to express my profound appreciation to my principal, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, CON, for his guidance, trust, support, and the opportunity to work alongside him. I remain grateful for his confidence in me and wish him continued success in all his future endeavours,” he wrote.
Bello also extended appreciation to the broader leadership structure and grassroots membership of the political party.
“I also extend my appreciation to the leadership, stakeholders, members, and supporters of the African Democratic Congress for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the party,” he added.
Concluding the communication, he formally requested the administrative removal of his credentials from the party’s official database.
“I respectfully request that my resignation be accepted and that my name be removed from the membership records of the party with immediate effect,” he noted.
“Please accept, Sir, the assurances of my highest esteem and regards,” he concluded.
