Where Petrol Is Sold N52 Per Litre

Libya continues to offer the lowest petrol prices in Africa, with the cost of octane-95 gasoline standing at just 0.15 Libyan Dinar per litre, approximately $0.032 or ₦52 as of September 16, 2024.

This data, reported by Global Petrol Prices, a platform tracking fuel prices globally, reveals that Libya’s petrol prices are significantly cheaper compared to other African nations. Egypt, Algeria, and Angola follow, with fuel prices at $0.279, $0.342, and $0.351 per litre, respectively.

These are the only four African countries selling fuel at lower prices than Nigeria.

In contrast, the average petrol price in Nigeria has skyrocketed to ₦1,000 per litre, with black market rates reaching as high as ₦1,600 per litre.

The Central African Republic tops the continent with the most expensive fuel at $1.83 per litre, followed by Senegal ($1.646), Seychelles ($1.595), Zimbabwe ($1.590), Morocco ($1.527), and Uganda ($1.475).

Other nations with high fuel prices include Malawi ($1.458), Côte d’Ivoire ($1.455), Kenya ($1.453), and Sierra Leone ($1.448).

Despite being one of Africa’s largest oil producers, Nigeria faces increasing criticism for its soaring petrol prices.

The removal of fuel subsidies has sparked widespread debate, with many citizens calling for government intervention to ease the burden on the populace.
