BREAKING: Court Takes Decision In Suit Seeking Ganduje’s Sack As APC National Chairman

The Abuja Federal High Court has rescheduled the judgment in the case challenging the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to September 23.

The case was initially set for judgment on Wednesday, September 18, but it was not listed on the court’s cause list.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the court registrar had earlier informed the parties involved about the postponement, stating that the judgment was not yet ready.

Justice Inyang Ekwo had initially set the September 18 date after hearing arguments from the plaintiff’s counsel, Benjamin Davou, and the defense.

The suit, filed by the North Central APC Forum, led by Saleh Zazzaga, challenges the legality of Ganduje’s appointment as APC chairman, arguing that he is not from the North Central geo-political zone.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024, lists Ganduje, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants.

The plaintiff seeks an order restraining Ganduje from continuing to act as the APC chairman and urges the court to direct INEC not to recognize any actions taken by the party since his appointment on August 3, 2023.

It argues that Ganduje’s appointment violates the APC constitution, as he replaced Abdullahi Adamu, who is from Nasarawa State in the North Central zone, while Ganduje hails from Kano State in the North West.

The forum contends that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC exceeded its powers by appointing Ganduje in violation of the party’s constitutional provisions.
