Lagbaja passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after a brief illness at the age of 56.
A day after his passing, Oluyede led a delegation of high-ranking military officials to comfort the Lagbaja family.
This visit was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu.

He noted that Oluyede was joined at the Flag Staff House in Niger Barracks, Abuja, by Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders, and General Officers Commanding from the Nigerian Army.
The acting COAS praised the late Lagbaja for his bravery, dedication, and the legacy he left behind during his years of service in the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
“It is with a huge sense of loss, albeit responsibility that I, on behalf of the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army commiserate with Mrs Mariya Lagbaja, the children and the entire Lagbaja clan over the passing of our dogged, gallant and extremely dedicated leader Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja (Nigerian Army Medal) the Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army,” he said.
