Three PDP Lawmakers Defect To APC

Three members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with their supporters. The lawmakers are Henry Mara (Jaba Constituency), Emmanuel Kantiok (Zonkwa Constituency), and Samuel Kambai (Zango Constituency).

They announced their defection on Thursday at their respective wards.

In an interview with PUNCH, the lawmakers explained that their decision was motivated by the exemplary leadership and performance of Governor Uba Sani, which they believed aligned with the direction of the state.

This defection came just two days after Amos Magaji, the representative for Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, also joined the APC.

The lawmakers emphasized that the political future of their constituents was crucial and that they believed they could serve their people better in the ruling party.

Mara mentioned that the PDP’s influence in Southern Kaduna has “rapidly crumbled” and predicted a significant shift in the state House of Assembly as more opposition members are expected to join the APC.

Kambai pointed out that the achievements of Governor Uba Sani have diminished opposition sentiments and effectively neutralized rival parties in the state.

He added that the governor’s progress in two years had contributed to the decline of opposition parties.

Kantiok noted the escalating insecurity in the state over the past eight years, but emphasized the relative peace now under Governor Sani, pledging to build upon the governor’s achievements.
