Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, has acknowledged that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar deserves significant recognition for his role in driving economic reforms during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.
As Obasanjo’s deputy, Atiku was responsible for overseeing the privatization of national assets, with the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), which El-Rufai headed at the time, operating under his supervision.
During a condolence visit on Friday to the family of Edwin Clark, a prominent elder statesman and advocate for the Niger Delta, who passed away on February 17, El-Rufai commended Atiku’s substantial influence on economic policy-making during the Obasanjo administration.
