Senate Reschedules Probe Proceeding Against Natasha

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions has postponed the disciplinary hearing for the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

On February 20, Akpoti-Uduaghan had a confrontation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seat allocation.

She rejected the seat assigned to her, defied Akpabio’s directive, and continued to raise a point of order despite being overruled.

Senator Yemi Adaramodu, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, brought up a point of order during the plenary, stating that the incident had damaged the Senate’s reputation.

As a result, the Senate referred Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Ethics Committee for a disciplinary review and instructed the committee to investigate the matter and report back to the Senate.

Initially, the hearing was set for Thursday, March 6.

However, in a letter dated Wednesday, March 5, the Clerk of the Committee, Christian Onwusonye, informed Akpoti-Uduaghan that the public hearing had been rescheduled.

The letter, referenced NASS/S/10/EPP/DSNAU/2, indicated that the hearing would now take place in Meeting Room 120 at the New Senate Building, National Assembly, Abuja.

It further clarified that the change of date did not invalidate the details of the original invitation.

The letter concluded by apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the date change and reaffirming the committee’s respect.
