Akpabio Reacts To Killing Of Northern Travelers In Edo

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has condemned the murder of 16 travelers in Edo State, calling it a senseless act of violence that has no place in society.

Akpabio also called for a thorough investigation by relevant authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and alleviate the pain caused by the incident.

The former Akwa Ibom State governor expressed his condolences in a message released by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom.

The remains of the lynched hunters were buried on Saturday in Uromi, Edo State.

Members of the Hausa community gathered at the community cemetery to pay their respects to the victims, who were burned to death on Friday after being accused of being kidnappers.

Akpabio said, “I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the gruesome murder of 16 travellers in Edo State. This senseless act of violence is unacceptable and has no place in our society. I condemn in very strong terms this heinous crime.

“I also urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators of this barbaric act are brought to book and held accountable for their actions. As a people, we must work together to promote peace, unity, and understanding among our people.

“We cannot afford to let such acts of violence divide us or undermine our collective efforts to build a better Nigeria. My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the victims, the government of Edo State, and all those affected by this needless act.”
