Oldest Member Of Kano Emirate Council, Sanusi Is Dead

Abbas Sanusi, the Galadiman Kano, the most senior councillor and oldest member of the Kano Emirate Council, has died at the age of 92 after a long illness.

He passed away on April 1st in Kano.

Sanusi had served on the Emirate Council since the late 1950s

His career included appointments as Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida and district head of Ungogo by his father, Emir Sanusi I, in 1959.

He later held the titles of Dan Iyan Kano and Wambai of Kano, before becoming Galadiman Kano under Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Born in 1933, he attended Kofar Kudu Elementary School and Kano Middle School (now Rumfa College).

He is survived by children, including Abdullahi Abbas, the current Kano APC chairman.

His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at the Emir’s Palace in Kano.
