Tinubu Told To Drop Shettima In 2027

Political stakeholders from the North-Central zone of the ruling party are urging President Bola Tinubu to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima with a candidate from their region in the 2027 election.

They are making this request as a condition for their support of Tinubu’s re-election.

The stakeholders have reportedly begun engaging in discussions with influential politicians and former government officials to pursue this goal.

On Saturday, they held a private meeting with figures such as former National Security Adviser Gen. Aliyu Gusau (retd), the Onah of Abaji, His Royal Highness Musa Yunusa, former Senator John Danboyi, and other unnamed individuals, to advance their aim of securing the presidency for the North-Central zone.

Prof. Nghargbu K’tso, Chairman of the North-Central Renaissance Movement and leader of the delegation, released a statement detailing their efforts.

The statement emphasized that the North-Central is actively campaigning for the presidency in 2027 through strategic consultations with key figures in the region and across Nigeria.

They are calling for national cooperation to realize this ambition, arguing that the North-Central deserves the same opportunity as other zones to produce the president and vice president, highlighting their capability to lead.

This development follows a press conference two days prior, where hundreds of regional stakeholders and party leaders announced their united front in pushing for a North-Central presidency, citing 65 years of marginalization.
