The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the death of two unidentified actors in Owerri after they allegedly consumed rice and wine on Friday.
DSP Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Imo State Command, stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the actors’ deaths.
Confirming the incident, Okoye said, “Yes, the Command is aware of the unfortunate incident of unnatural death. I can confirm that two people were pronounced dead while two were hospitalised. As I speak with you, the Commissioner of Police for Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma has directed the Pathologist to conduct tests on the two deceased persons to ascertain the cause of their deaths. The results will determine the next line of action on the matter.”
News emerged on Friday night that four actors were rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital Owerri, where two were declared dead upon arrival.

Sources indicate that the two deceased actors and others had eaten rice and drank wine provided by an unnamed movie director at a house party following a film shoot.
Two of them were found dead in the early hours of Friday.
A source, Kaito Karisia, reported that the movie director, who provided the food and drinks, had gone to bed early, leaving the four actors and three women at the party.
The director reportedly woke up early Friday morning to switch power sources and discovered the two actors dead and the other two struggling to breathe.
Karisia, who shared the incident on Facebook, mentioned that the two surviving actors were receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital Owerri.
According to one of the survivors, as relayed by Karisia, “Their host (the movie director) offered them rice and everybody ate. He later presented them with a bottle of Calypso and wine. But they only took a sip and never drank again. However, the two other guys who are now dead finished the drink.”
The movie director and the three women present at the apartment have been arrested and are being questioned as the investigation continues.
