Court Sentences Portable To Prison

A Chief Magistrate Court in Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, has sentenced controversial street artist Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, to three months in prison with the option of paying a N30,000 fine.

Portable was found guilty of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

The musician’s arrest occurred in March 2023 after he physically attacked a police inspector and obstructed officers attempting to serve him an arrest warrant.

Police Prosecutor Inspector Olumide Awoleke informed the court that Portable committed the offenses on November 18, 2022, in Okeosa, Ilogbo, within the Ifo Magisterial District.

The charges included conspiracy to commit assault, unlawful assault on Osimosu Emmanuel Oluwafemi, and theft of musical equipment.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo found the singer guilty on the first two counts. He sentenced Portable to one month imprisonment with a N10,000 fine for conspiracy to commit assault (Count 1) and two months imprisonment with a N20,000 fine for unlawful assault (Count 2).
