Salihu Lukman, a prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has disclosed that overwhelming frustration drove his decision to suspend his membership with the party.
The former Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made the revelation on Friday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
Speaking on current political developments, Lukman emphasized the critical need for political leaders to unite to address the severe challenges plaguing the country. He noted that national interest must take precedence over political party loyalty, adding that he remains willing to reactivate his ADC membership if it leads to a collective push toward presenting a credible candidate capable of earning the trust of Nigerians.
Explaining his position during the interview, Lukman said: “I suspended my ADC membership out of frustration. I am not speaking as an ADC member because Nigeria is facing a serious challenge.”
“Partisan politics will not get us out of the situation we are in. I am prepared to retain my ADC membership if it helps bring all the party’s leaders together, because Nigeria is bigger than the ADC.”
