A magistrate court located in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, ordered the police to launch a criminal investigation into Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District, following allegations that he made remarks inciting violence against members of the Accord Party.
Presiding Magistrate II, Farida Ibrahim, instructed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7, Abuja, to handle the inquiry and deliver a report within a two-week window.
This instruction came through an official letter dated August 13, 2026, signed by court registrar Abdulraham Yusuf, and titled “Direct Criminal Complaint Between Pelumi Olajengbesi and Senator Francis Fadahunsi,” issued pursuant to Section 89(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
The letter read, “I am directed by the presiding Magistrate II, His Worship Hon. Farida Ibrahim, sitting at Magistrate Court Wuse Zone 6, F.C.T Abuja to write to your office to investigate the above-mentioned case and report back within two weeks.” The court also asked the police for “necessary action.”
Pelumi Olajengbesi, campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, initiated the complaint after a video circulated showing the senator allegedly encouraging attacks on Accord Party supporters ahead of the August 15 governorship election in the state.
Concurrently, Olajengbesi threatened a N10bn defamation and injurious falsehood lawsuit against Fadahunsi over separate remarks made during media appearances.
Through his legal counsel, Hammed Lasisi, Olajengbesi issued a letter demanding a public retraction and an unreserved apology within 24 hours.
The legal notice addressed statements made on Viable TV on July 2 and Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11, where Fadahunsi allegedly accused Olajengbesi of utilizing thugs and sponsoring cult groups.
According to the lawyer, Fadahunsi stated that Olajengbesi was “not even from the same Ijebu-Jesha” and was “from somewhere in Ogun State,” further accusing him of “using thugs, Eiye and Aye.”
Furthermore, Fadahunsi allegedly stated on Politics Today that “Rogba is an Eiye man sponsored by Barr. Olajengbesi terrorising the whole … my own territory up and down through all these Eiye and Aye.”
Olajengbesi strongly denied these claims, categorizing them as false, defamatory, and damaging to his reputation.
The lawyer stated, “The allegation of sponsoring cultists and persons engaged in acts of terror is particularly serious, as it imputes criminality and conduct wholly incompatible with our Client’s standing as a legal practitioner, public figure and candidate for elective office.”
