What Transpired When Ribadu Called Ado Bayero Emir Of Kano At Abuja Event [VIDEO]

On Thursday, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu referred to Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the Emir of Kano.

Both Bayero and Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi are currently vying for the esteemed title.

In March 2020, former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje removed Sanusi from the throne and appointed Bayero as Emir.

However, four years later, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf dismissed Bayero and reinstated Sanusi.

Bayero, whose removal was announced while he was outside the state, has returned to Kano and taken residence in the mini palace at Nasarawa, where he is holding court.

In response to this, Governor Yusuf ordered his immediate arrest.

However, instead of complying, security around the mini palace was strengthened, leading to speculation that Bayero had federal support.

Aminu Gwarzo, the Deputy Governor of Kano, alleged that Ribadu helped facilitate Bayero’s return by providing two private jets.

Ribadu has denied this accusation and threatened to sue Gwarzo.

In a letter, Aliyu & Musa Chambers, representing Ribadu, demanded an apology from the deputy governor, who later retracted his statement.

The struggle for control of the emirate subsequently moved to the courts, with both sides filing various suits against each other.

During the 1st Annual International Lecture organized by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the theme “Insecurity in the Sahel (2008-2024)” in Abuja on Thursday, Ribadu referred to Bayero as the Emir of Kano.

While acknowledging dignitaries at the event, Ribadu stated, “Of course, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.”

His remark prompted a resounding applause from the audience.
