This transpired outside the venue where the award ceremony was held.
Lookman was named the 2024 African Footballer of the Year in a historic moment that cements his place among the best players in the world this year.

The Nigerian forward triumphed over strong competition from South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, Cote d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy to claim the prestigious award.
Lookman’s victory ensures that the African Footballer of the Year award stays in Nigeria, following last year’s win by his teammate Victor Osimhen.
