Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke recently visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as part of a round of consultations in Abuja following his political success.
A photograph capturing the meeting was shared on X by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, featuring Adeleke shaking hands with the FCT minister while both held up the governor’s certificate of return.
Olayinka captioned the picture, “Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”
This engagement took place shortly after the governor held a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
Adeleke arrived at the Villa dressed in traditional attire, accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and several key Osun State officials, including his chief of staff and campaign director-general.
During the session, the governor presented his certificate of return and expressed appreciation for the management of the recent electoral process.
The governor emerged as the victor under the platform of the Accord Party after securing a substantial majority of votes cast across the state’s local government areas.
He triumphed over the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, after winning in a majority of the 30 local government areas.
Addressing State House correspondents briefly after meeting with the President, Adeleke stated that Tinubu deserved praise for allowing the political process to unfold without interference.
According to Adeleke, his visit was primarily to thank Tinubu, whom he described as the “father of the nation”, for respecting democratic tenets.
“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy.
“That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result. That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” the governor said.
